If you’re not sure how to spend Easter this year, you’ve come to the right place! From green-thumbs to creative crafters, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on our list of the top 10 Easter activities to do at home.
1. Make DIY Easter crafts
Sure, you could buy premade Easter decorations… but where’s the fun in that? Whether you paint multicoloured eggs, learn how to make Easter baskets or try some cute crafty printables, there are plenty of egg-citing ways to showcase your creativity and keep children of all ages entertained!
2. Send Easter eggs online
If visiting friends and family over Easter isn’t possible, we have the perfect solution. At Edible Blooms, we offer online delivery of Easter eggs for those who need to send the gift of joy from a distance. Our range of gorgeous hampers are handcrafted into a variety of edible arrangements, and can be customised to include names, personalised messages and more chocolates! Shopping for Easter has never been easier!
3. Gardening
Regardless of the season, gardening is always rewarding and engaging. This is a great activity for green thumbs of all ages, and who doesn’t love eating fresh fruit, herbs and veggies that they’ve grown themselves? Try planting some Easter themed fruit and veggies this year, or if you don’t have an outdoor garden, why not try growing egghead seedlings on a windowsill? These space saving planters are absolutely adorable, and are a hit with the kids!
4. Easter lunch
Nothing brings people together like an Easter lunch, but what happens when the guests can’t make it? Well, with so many great conference calling apps such as Zoom, FaceTime and Messenger, you’ll never spend Easter lunch alone. Many of these platforms are also free and easy to use, so even the less tech-savvy family members can get involved!
5. Cooking
Even without guests over in person to eat the food, Easter cooking is a fun and rewarding way to spend the day alone or with your household. We recommend ‘Better Homes and Gardens’ Easter recipes for all of your sweet and savoury food inspirations this year (they are sure to go down a treat!).
6. Watch Easter themed movies
There is no shortage of content when it comes to Easter inspired films. They can be a great way to entertain the kids, get in the spirit of the day or to help you unwind in the evening (likely after eating too much). Our personal favourite is ‘Hop’ (2011), but there are so many wonderful films to choose from; you’ll have your Easter movie sorted for many years to come!
7. Easter egg hunt
Ah, the traditional Easter Egg hunt. A timeless classic, usually consisting of children frantically running around the yard looking for shiny, colourful chocolate egg wrappers. This is normally accompanied by squeals of excitement, bragging from whichever child found the most, followed by a breakfast of toasted hot cross buns as one parent secretly divides the chocolate up evenly between the baskets. Even if your egg hunt looks a little different to this, we can all appreciate the excitement and laughter that an Easter egg hunt brings.
8. Easter egg hunt (advanced)
For older kids and adults, why not spice up your Easter egg hunt at home with clues! Hide your chocolatey treasures around the house (don’t make it easy!) and include a clue with each one that will lead to the next sweet treat. This advanced take on the traditional Easter egg hunt is sure to be an egg-citing and interesting challenge for the children-at-heart.
9. Spend time with pets
How could we exclude all of our fluffy, furry and feathered friends from the Easter festivities? From chew toys stuffed with treats, to DIY bunny costumes (these look amazing on ANY kind of pet), they are sure to appreciate the extra love and attention from their doting humans.
10. Learn about the history and evolution of Easter
Hear us out; we know this sounds like a drag. But with so many different cultures and families spending time during Easter in unique ways, it’s worth knowing how this celebration began, and how the Easter story became centralised around a rabbit leaving eggs in people’s gardens (Seriously, how random is that?).
There we have it! However you choose to celebrate, we hope this list of our favourite Easter activities has inspired you to get creative this Easter. Whether you deliver Easter eggs online or hunt for them together with family and friends, you’re bound to be creating smiles all round!
